FAMILIES & COMMUNITY

Wild Things

Our Wild things groups are for parents and toddlers. Here, you can let your little wild things be free to explore, discover and play in local woodland, marshland or shoreline surroundings.

Our sessions focus on child-led play and have a relaxed atmosphere about them, whilst our experienced and skilled staff are on hand to facilitate activities and respond to curious minds, we very much encourage children and parents to play freely.

Age range?  Activities are predominantly aimed at children aged 2-5 years but parents can bring their younger children (under 2’s) and let them enjoy the woodland.

Also, for home educated families we are happy for older siblings up to the age of 8 to attend at the reduced sibling rate, please contact us to discuss this further.

Where and When?

  • Wednesdays: Church Wood, Church Wood Lane (Hollington), St Leonards on Sea. 10am – 12pm: Meet at the Church in the wood car park.

  • Fridays: Helenswood, The Ridge, Hastings, 10am - 12pm: Meet at the entrance of Helenswood Leisure Centre

Both sites have access to toilets and a car park

We aim to continue year-round, to expose children to changing seasons and variable weather conditions and do encourage resilience. “There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing” Any cancellations due to extreme weather will be refunded.

Cost?  Sessions cost £5.00 per child (2-5 years), £2 for extra siblings. Siblings under 2 years come for free.

BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL AS THESE GROUPS ARE VERY POPULAR.

Adult courses

We run a range of adult events and courses which aim to help reconnect recharge and rewild.

Rewilding days:

Nature Connection and Mindfulness Woodland day for adults
An opportunity to take time away from busy lives, to fully immerse yourself in nature,
This day includes Nature connection activities, mindfulness practice and woodland play.
The day will take place in our magnificent ancient woodland site in Staplecross. This site offers us a complete immersion in nature, the perfect place to let go, slow down and reconnect.
(The village is on a regular bus route from Hastings and St Leonards)

The day will be led by Polly Palmer and Luke Funnell

"We feel connected to nature, yet we can hardly explain why nature impresses us so much, or why do we seek to spend time in nature. The truth is nature is our natural habitat, and when we disconnect we forget our inner selves"

these groups are now finished for 2019. 2020 dates to be announced soon
